Joie A DeRitis
Clinical Social Work/Therapist, LCSW
The belief that we are all inherently deserving of connection, compassion, and curiosity is the thread that pulls itself through all of my work. I offer psychotherapy to individuals, couples, and multi-partner relationships. I am able to support people through experiences of anxiety, depression, trauma, gender, sexuality and sex, interpersonal issues, body image, life transitions, and shame. Much of my work focuses on supporting people who are LGBTQ, and I specialize in working with transgender, gender non-conforming, and non-binary (TGNCNB) people, polyamorous/non-monogamous people, and folks in kink communities.
I take an integrative approach, referencing a number of theories in order to meet each client’s needs and goals. I ground myself in psychodynamic, relational, & feminist orientations, while using mindfulness, somatic, cognitive, & narrative techniques for emotional healing. My approach is informed by my experiences as a queer non-binary transgender woman.
I center an anti-oppressive commitment in practice, acknowledging the impact that oppressive systems have on the people I serve, as well as my individual positions & responsibilities within those systems. I offer a number of reduced-fee arrangements as an investment in providing services equitably. Currently, all reduced-fee spots are full.
