My name is Johna Secrist, and I am a licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker. I am providing services in the state of West Virginia Via telehealth. I see adults and adolescents and use a variety of modalities including Person Centered therapy and Cognitive behavioral therapy. I see clients with a variety of issues including anxiety, depression, mood disorders, substance abuse disorders and many other mental illnesses. I typically work with those clients that struggle with day to day stressors and a variety of mental illnesses. I am open to treating most types of issues with adults and adolescents.
I most frequently use Person Centered therapy or Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, as both modalities help me and the client build a shared understanding of their negative thought patterns and how to challenge and replace those while also meeting my client where they are in their mental health journey by providing acceptance, empathy and understanding.
I use a very person centered approach and take time to build rapport and get to know my clients in a comfortable, non judgmental, safe space to discuss their many life stressors. I am very authentic and empathetic which allows my patients to feel at ease during sessions.
