I love helping couples with communication issues and those feeling stuck with their marriage. I also enjoy helping those coping with anxiety, depression, and existential issues (especially exploring meaning and purpose in day to day life).
If I don't know something I'll be honest about it. I tend to be straightforward but always compassionate.
While my background is in CBT, motivational interviewing, and Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy, I will use whatever I think will best help my clients and tailor my approach to them. If I don't know about something, I will recommend someone who does, and if there isn't a resource available, I will do my best to learn.
I think of myself and my clients as fellow travelers. They are driving and describing what they see and I'm helping navigate. We are a team mutually trying to accomplish their goals. I try to give honest, specific, and relevant observations and having real-time discussions of how to address times where we feel stuck.
