I believe understanding who we are and why we do things is a fundamental part of self-growth and exploration. My goal is to work together to help you gain self-awareness and balance by using evidence-based practice in therapy. I take into account your unique personality traits and culture to help tailor my approach to working with you. My style is client centered and collaborative in nature. I draw from cognitive-behavioral, existential, and mindfulness-based approaches in therapy. Using this integrative approach helps me to form a strong therapeutic bond with you. I utilize a Cognitive Behavioral Therapy/Patient-Centered approach. This means I listen to you to help you challenge irrational beliefs so you can develop the tools to become your own healer. I understand that change is a process that does not magically occur overnight. My role is to act as your guide through this process and support you through it.
I have been practicing counseling since 2001, have a Bachelor's degree in Human Development, a Masters degree in Mental Health and am a certified CASAC (substance abuse counselor) in NY. I specialize in bereavement, trauma, anxiety/depression and addiction counseling. I also work with couples to resolve conflict.
