I work with boys and men. I work with issues like violence and suicide and also with less intense issues such as identity problems, poor school performance, bullying, and self-actualization. I can be trusted. I make an investment with the client and hope he does the same.
My career has been focused on the more intense problems. I worked in residential substance abuse. I worked in a maximum security prison and a juvenile prison. I ran a group home for middle aged psychotic mental patients. My perspective is broad and that makes a lot of males feel comfortable.
I believe that achievement is the only true building block for identity or self-esteem. Therapy amounts to helping the client discover where he can make something happen and helping him find the strength and motivation to get it done.
