Psychologist, JD, PhD

People often come to therapy when going through a difficult transition, like Retirement or Divorce because they are feeling stuck. Their life is not working as well as it used to. I first listen to my clients to get to know them and to really understand the problem. I always want to know what they have already tried so we can build on it.
Then we begin to identify what exactly is preventing them from enjoying their life. The next step is to work together to find a new focus and to find their energy again.
Stress, anxiety and depression can make you forget what you already know. When stressed you may think there is something terribly wrong with you. You may feel separated from your confidence, your enthusiasm, even from your sense of humor. Why should you endure these experiences, when you could fix them?
I understand depression in adults and have helped attorneys, software engineers, network administrators, physicians, nurses, paramedics, firemen, police officers, professors, students, musicians and ministers over the past 30 years. Each profession has its own challenges. I continue to study and to learn from my colleagues to become a better therapist.
