An inconvenient truth; "Life begins at the end of your comfort zone". It is well documented that our worst fear is fear of the unknown. Many will live in the pain of the familiar for years before it hurts enough to wholeheartedly embrace the risk of change. It could be a relationship, job/school, personal/family history, trauma, alternative lifestyle, shame/guilt, substance use, mental health or a variety of other things. If you are in pain, something has to change. Therapy can help you identify what steps are necessary, then develop a plan for change. I will work with you at your pace, offering support in a non-judgmental way.
I've worked in mental health, addictions (substance and behaviors), and co-occuring disorders for 43 years, 25 of those in inpatient psychiatric/substance abuse settings. I also taught graduate counseling courses at the university level for 19 years. I've been clean and sober myself since 1980 and have done extensive work on my own growth in therapy.
Areas of expertise are addiction (substance and behavior), PTSD/C-PTSD, guilt/shame from social/religious teachings about sex/sexuality, depression/anxiety, and grief. My approach is centered mostly on the work of Carl Rogers' humanistic theories. I also use existential therapy which focuses on establishing individual meaning and purpose in life.

First session is $130, after that it is $65 when paid the day of the session. There is a $3 fee for credit cards. There is a $15 fee for late cancellations (less than 12 hours) and if I cancel with less than 12 hour notice, your next session will be reduced by $15. Fee for no-show is $30.

This 6-hour group is for those who are required to complete substance abuse/addiction education. The group will be limited to 10 participants. A certificate of completion will be given at the end of the day. It is the responsibility of each participant to make sure this group meets the guidelines of the individual, employer, or agency that is requiring it. You must pre-register for this group.
