Life can bring about many existential conundrums. The basic questions of life come front and center. What is the purpose to which I am directed? Who is "running" my life? Are my relationships growing and authentic? Do my religious beliefs connect with my daily life? Is my work fulfilling in the way I had hoped? Am I facing into my limits with wisdom? Am I just too distracted to get it together? Talk therapy can be an opportunity to address existential questions. We need more clarity with the help of a sounding board.
Many men and women have childhood trauma. Others have disappointments in the family and/or in the church. Dis-ease is felt in the body, mind and heart. The body has its particular way of messaging. The heart has longing. Therapy involves the body, mind, heart and spirit. Often the disparate parts of our lives need to be reintegrated into a whole.
As a pastor I support clients in their spiritual journey. As an emotionally attuned therapist, I support clients through emotional distress. As a Somatic Experiencing Therapist (body-based trauma work) I support clients through the trauma events of their lives.
