In the field of mental health, we talk a lot about issues and disorders. But that overlooks an important question: What does it mean to be mentally ordered? What would a mentally ordered life look and feel like? What would be different? If you have been stuck in a rut (or find it hard to get out of bed), if you have been unable to stop doing things in ways that don’t work, or find you get in your own way and find it’s time to develop more workable ways of seeing and acting, therapy can help with that. In my practice I utilize approaches that include CBT, trauma and attachment, acceptance and commitment, and evolutionary practices.
In over ten years as a therapist I have come to see "disorders" as adaptations that no longer help us anymore. These adaptations can be severe enough to be seen as “disorders”. Once these patterns and habits are recognized and understood as drivers of our thoughts and behaviors, we can use this knowledge to build a life of resilience and meaning.
My practice is broad-based, from anxiety and relationship issues, to complex trauma and existential crisis. I utilize different therapeutic modes in our work, with an approach that is accepting, curious, and based on what you want to see your life become. The goal is not just to relieve suffering but to bring more resilience, vitality, and ease to your life.
