I believe we all have the intrinsic wisdom to know what we need to live balanced, fulfilling lives. Sometimes the behaviors and beliefs we learn to cope with overwhelming life experiences separate us from that wisdom. We learn to adapt in ways that help us survive. My hope is to provide a non-judgmental, compassionate setting to explore and address barriers to authentic living. I am trained in, and primarily work with, the internal family systems (IFS) model. IFS is a non-pathologizing, evidence-based model that helps us rediscover our authentic selves and explore our intricate systems.

Together we will find the right path, and right set of practical tools, to help you overcome obstacles and become your best self. After over a decade-and-a-half working in mental health, I am skilled in the latest, evidence-based therapies available (e.g., Relational Mindfulness and Acceptance & Commitment Therapy). But no single approach works for all people at all times and, remaining flexible, we will create a safe therapeutic environment with the best combination of techniques that works for you. So many different psychotherapies exist today because there is no one approach that works at all times.

I work to identify the strengths of my client and then utilize these as we collaborate, accomplishing the client's life goals, navigating stressors and bringing balance and hope to the client's life. Are you tired of sabotaging your success? Do you wish you could get a grip on your anxiety? Why am I so angry all of the time? Other people can quit, why can't I? Will I ever be enough? I believe in creating a safe space of healing, hope and refuge where you can achieve your goals and desires for your life.

Healing can only happen by allowing your pain and your hopes to be witnessed. So many people suffer in silence, carry burdens of intergenerational trauma or being neurodivergent in a world not built for them, and have never REALLY been given the space to use their voice. If this describes you, you belong here. Part of my goal as your therapist is to help you find your voice again (or perhaps for the first time) and have the opportunity to be truly seen and heard. I will bring full presence, respect, and compassion to our work together to support you in moving toward the life you desire and deserve.

Offering sessions in Art Therapy to support chronic illness, grief and loss, and burnout. Throughout our lives, loss can show up in many forms: the loss of a job, the loss of a relationship, the loss of health, the loss of fertility, and of course the loss of life. All of these experiences can have the same intense effects as the death of a loved one. They can leave us feeling shattered, lost, and alone. Our modern-day way of life does not provide us with the rituals or guides we need to properly care for ourselves, find relief and support, and effectively grieve these losses when they occur. I understand, and I’m here to help.

We're all works in progress. I believe in your ability to progress toward a freer self. The clients who begin work with me aren't free--they are constrained in a number of ways: depression, anxiety, disordered eating, low self-esteem, fear of intimacy, or impulsive behaviors. I see my work with you as helping you find the way back to your true self, where feelings, thoughts, desires, and hopes are revealed and honored, instead of tyrannized and discounted, sometimes by your own self.

I tailor my approach to meet the needs of those who come to see me, but offer every individual the respect and compassion they deserve. Maybe you are seeking insight and awareness for the purpose of personal growth. Perhaps you are looking to address a particular issue and need someone who can be goal directed and offer specific skills and feedback. Maybe it's hard to name just what is going on and this is one of the reasons you have decided to seek help. No two people come to therapy for the same reason because no two people are the same.

I think most of us would say it’s hard work being a child, adolescent, or parent today. Does it often feel like that the frustration levels at your home some times push higher and higher? Kids refusing to go to bed, teens unable to speak, chores or school work not completed, or worse—feelings of hopelessness with your child who is not able to enjoy life as usual? Has it become more difficult for your child or yourself to manage through another day due to grief, anxiety, or events? It can be hard working through these large feelings, and I would like to work with you to help navigate through whatever is happening.

Prior to beginning clinical practice, I taught high school students in Metro Nashville where I was fortunate to learn from the resiliency of young people. This invaluable time eventually lead me to pursuing counseling. My clinical experience has primarily been within community centers serving diverse populations, which has informed my perspective as a culturally-competent, dynamic practitioner. Areas of clinical focus are academic issues, addiction, anxiety, codependency, depression, LGBTQ+ identities, life transitions, PTSD, and trauma.

I want to hear your story. Our stories make us who we are. These stories are forever changing as we move through the world. None of our stories are perfect. Truth is, some of our stories leave us feeling weary, as a therapist, I want to encounter you where you need the most support in your story. Everyone has a story that includes a past, present and a future. And every pain, and every instance of trauma, has history within us and that history cannot be changed. But we can decide to move forward from those hurts and not relive that chapter in our book. We can’t erase it, but we can fold the page down and decide to heal and move on.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?
The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.
Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?
Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.
Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?
The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.
How much does therapy cost?
The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.
What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?
Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.
Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?
Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
Is online therapy a good option?
Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.
Are therapy sessions confidential?
Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
