Couples/Partner and Marital Relationship Coaching
Effective interpersonal communication is a critical component to building healthy relationships. One of my mentors Dr. James Petersen deposits over forty years of cumulative counseling and pastoral experience in his book entitled Why Don't We Listen Better. His thesis reveals "how powerful good communication can be as a relationship tool" (p. 4). Healthy thinking can have a positive impact on one's emotions and actions, while unhealthy thinking results in negative emotions and actions. Reducing emotional disturbances, clarity of thought, increasing self-confidence, and building supportive relationships are some of the key benefits derived from my relational and interpersonal development group training sessions.
Anger Management, Trauma & PTSD Group Therapy
Developing resilience from crisis, trauma and grief requires above average commitment, a secure self-concept, and a purpose-driven philosophical approach to life. According to Wright (2011) "When youth are disillusioned by a crisis, they need to reestablish commitment bonds, increase their self-esteem and find purpose in life" (p. 403). Likewise, Floyd (2008) contends, "Identity development is thus a central task of adolescents, and it may be affected when a teen experiences a crisis or trauma" (p. 210). The foregoing nuances form some salient pillars to my group therapeutic sessions for both adolescent and adult communities.
