Hello, I am Joel Lopez, LMFT. I am a bilingual (English/Spanish) Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with over 15 years of experience working with individuals, and families. I help individuals dealing with trauma, depression, anxiety, behavioral issues, life-stage transitions, and other debilitating situations. My range of abilities includes using evidence-based practices to be able to provide focused treatment and positive outcomes. My work is client-centered, which attempts to shape the therapeutic process to the needs of the client.
I am attentive to cultural sensitivity while helping clients affected by one or various types of oppression. I incorporate solution-focused techniques, narrative therapy techniques, cognitive-behavioral techniques, and family systems techniques. Through the practice of talk therapy, I guide clients to overcome issues affecting their everyday lives.
Growing up I noticed I was a good listener. I wanted to be helpful. As a social person, I knew I wanted a career that allows me to interact with others. I, myself, have experienced much in life, obstacles, stressors, and now I want to provide others the support, care, and empathy. I am driven by the positive changes clients make, and the smiles I see.
