Hi, I’m Joel. I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with 8 years experience treating Veterans, First Responders, and Trauma Survivors. Being a Veteran myself, I deeply understand the challenges associated with trauma. I believe that each of us has a worst day. How we change in response to that worst day is part of what defines us. I’m trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and CPT (Cognitive Processing Therapy), which are two of the recommended and evidenced based treatments for trauma. It is often helpful to have an objective view of your challenges, and that is where a therapist can be beneficial.
Trauma does not have to control everything in your life. We all get to exercise choices in how we respond. Therapy can help you find your ability to choose. There is value in processing our past experiences and understanding how they relate to our current lives so that we can heal and grow into who we want to be.
