“The fundamental principle in care of the soul is that the soul needs tending. If we do not tend to things in their suffering, and decay, we risk living the life of the walking dead.” ~Thomas Moore. As I acquire experience as a therapist, it has become apparent that the therapeutic relationship between the counselor and the client is crucial to the success of the client. Counseling is based on trust and the professional connection, and through that connection, the counseling session becomes a co-creation that can unlock the client’s barriers to a fulfilling life.
I specialize in working with trauma survivors; traumatic events live at the base of most mental health struggles such as; PTSD, ADHD, Co-dependence, Depression, Anxiety, Borderline Personality Disorder, and Narcissism; to name a few. Once the initial trauma is identified, through therapy, a person can begin to re-build and increase their quality of life.
When traumatic events, or chronic stress occur, the brain is triggered in a prolonged alarm-reactivity which can alter the neurobiology of the brain. Through therapy in an emotionally safe environment, with a therapist that has trauma-informed care skills, remarkable shifts can take place; The mind/body/heart can feel safe again, and regain what was lost.
