Sometimes life's challenges can be overwhelming, leading to a feeling of being "stuck". Is this a familiar feeling? If so, I believe I can help. I've worked with many clients through my 25+ years of experience. While I've treated people for varying issues, I've found that most clients commonly seek to feel understood and empowered to make change. My focus in therapy is to identify where a person feels challenged, and why. Once an understanding of where a person is emotionally and what their therapy goals are, we can work together using a variety of therapeutic techniques to move towards achieving those goals.
I primarily utilize cognitive-behavioral techniques, with a focus on dysfunctional thought patterns and behaviors. I also utilize schema therapy techniques, encouraging clients to explore patterns in past relationships preventing growth in current relationships. I'm also trained in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy; and I utilize techniques where appropriate.
E.M. Forster wrote "Only Connect" and this phrase has always been a guiding theme in my work. My approach is warm, supportive and dynamic. I've worked in multiple settings with clients of varied backgrounds; and I believe for most people real change is possible when one feels supported, understood and empowered. I look forward to connecting with you!
