Jodi Klugman-Rabb, MS, LMFT, LPC, Marriage & Family Therapist in Corte Madera
I believe therapy is an opportunity for change, insight and growth driving how I work. Clients come into treatment to address painful situations, unwanted core beliefs and family of origin issues continuing to affect the present. Therapy is also an opportunity to strengthen what has worked identifying long lost skills. I structure therapy in a multidisciplinary manner to work holistically with emotional, behavioral and interpersonal elements. The core of my approach is rooted in Family Systems theory, illuminating generations of behaviors culminating in one person; you. I predominately use Cognitive-Behavioral interventions due to the practical nature of the skills.
Effective ADHD counseling encompasses multimodal research and interventions, using collaborative practice to support healthy patterns while addressing negative core beliefs. EMDR is my treatment of choice when working with fears, core beliefs and traumas from interpersonal to complex. I trained under founder Francine Shapiro using it for general traumas, first responders and ADHD
I coined Parental Identity Discovery to describe an experience as old as humanity: adoptions, falsified paternity, misled parentage, etc. Understanding how to work with grief is important when working in this niche as the cycle between anger, hurt, denial and bargaining are present and contribute to a deep questioning of self-identity.

Parental Identity Discovery

I coined the term Parental Identity Discovery to describe the exploration of learning biological ancestry through adoptions, misled or falsified parentage and the family secrets that enable them. The shock, grief, identity confusion and possible unsupportive family reactions contribute to a destabilizing experience for the person. This group is designed to educate on and allow for grief, allow exploration of identity confusion and provide help communicating needs and limits to friends and loved ones. This on-going group meets weekly.
