I specialize in PTSD and trauma therapy, using EMDR and other evidence based interventions to help clients heal and meet their goals.
Why do we sometimes dwell on the worst times of our lives or spend our time and energy reliving things we wish we could change? Events, decisions, relationships, feelings etc can all end up 'stuck' and continue to negatively impact us in a variety of ways. When experiences from the past continue to impact your present, whether it be flashbacks or the way you view your place in the world, it can be very difficult to change.
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a treatment intervention that addresses how traumatic stress shapes our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. By reprocessing the experiences and related negative beliefs individuals are empowered to change those patterns. I am certified by EMDRIA and now offer Safe and Sound Protocol to supplement.
My approach is both direct and compassionate. I enjoy EMDR so much because seeing the relief and the positive changes it spurs is extremely rewarding. I will guide you through the 8 stages of EMDR and however long (or short) it takes to build resourcing and fully desensitize and reprocess dysfunctionally stored memories.
