Our practice is dedicated to serving marginalized and diverse people, especially LGBTQ+ individuals. We provide gender transition-related support, including referral letters for hormones and surgeries when needed. People are often nervous about their first therapy session. If that's you, take a deep breath, and imagine what you could get out of therapy! Almost everyone feels more relaxed by the end of the first session. It just takes getting started.
Avery Egana (they/them) is a biracial, transgender therapist who is pursuing a doctorate in clinical psychology at Spalding University. They use an interpersonal approach to examine how intersections of identity can impact mental health. They practice cultural humility and reflect on biases while working with clients of differing backgrounds.
Avery is pursuing a career working with queer people of color to offer more healthcare options to marginalized communities. In their doctorate program, they are working on research looking at the way Black Americans navigate predominantly white spaces.

"
I use DBT-informed and IFS-informed treatment more than other modalities. I find that DBT can be just the thing when people are dysregulated, and IFS often gets the ball rolling when people have been stuck for years.
