Joan L Powers
Marriage & Family Therapist, MA, LMFT
I have had over 20 years of experience working with families, couples, individuals, adolescents, and children. The work has included helping with mood disorders, ADHD, addictions, eating disorders, relationship issues, LGBT issues, and trauma. I feel very privileged that I have been given the trust to walk with my clients on their path. The journey has not always been easy, and sometimes there have been bumps in the road. Together we can find your path.
I specialize in cognitive behavioral therapy as well as dialectic behavioral therapy and psychodynamic models. I am a strong advocate for women's issues as well as LGBT issues. This includes religious and spiritual misunderstandings that has made moving on difficult. I work with the whole person to help each attain their maximum potential.
I believe that each person has their own unique gifts and abilities. The goal is that each person comes out of their personal cocoon and find the own path to fly. There will always be obstacles, but the ability to navigate these obstacles will be greatly improved.
