About
I’ve helped thousands of clients cope with depression, anxiety, illness and relationships for over 25 years. I use cognitive-behavioral, psychodynamic and family systems therapies, but am flexible and personalize my approach for the specific situation and client needs. I work with individuals, families and couples, combining support, insight, cognitive and relaxation/imagery techniques. Trained as an undergraduate at Penn State, and at University of Texas at Austin for my masters, I’ve supervised and managed many psychotherapists at hospitals and mental health agencies.
I use an eclectic approach and I am quite interactive in sessions. For those interested I use a psychospiritual approach to help strengthen a sense of spirituality to cope. I accept clients where they are, yet gently challenge barriers that impede growth and change. I also use humor in sessions.
Having personally experienced illness, loss, teenage children (!) and other life challenges has led me to a deeper understanding and perspective of what life presents. I know it’s hard to reach out for help, so I commend you for having the courage to do so and hope to have the privilege of working with you.
