I work very collaboratively with my clients to find a balance between starting where you are and providing the support you need to move towards the goals you have in mind. I work with a variety of issues including learning to cope with depression, life transitions, improving relationships, and learning to cope with significant losses. I also specialize in treating anxiety/stress and substance abuse/dependence. In my experience, a match between a therapist and client is an important part of moving toward your goals. I find it helpful to talk briefly by phone about the concerns you want to address.
My work with individuals focusing on anxiety/stress starts with identifying what maintains the anxiety and developing approaches that reduce or eliminate it. In treating substance abuse/dependence this may be the focus of our work in therapy, or it may be a symptom of other issues that are needing attention.
I am also part of a group practice, Wildwood Psychiatric Resource Center which offers access to other professionals who offer services like couples therapy and medication consultations.I am a licensed Psychologist, registered with the Oregon Board of Psychologist Examiners. I received my Doctorate from Pacific University, School of Professional Psychology.
