I am a licensed professional counselor and a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional and EMDR clinician. My clinical and research interests include working with adolescents and adults on issues such as depression, anxiety, loss, grief and bereavement, trauma recovery, intergenerational trauma, near-death experiences, LGBTQAI concerns, substance abuse recovery, clinical supervision, HIV/AIDS, personality, and human development. I believe in the potential of everyone to not only make sense of their mental health issues but also to be empowered to succeed in life by discovering their resiliency, strengths, and personal gifts.
I graduated from Loyola University with an M.S. in Pastoral Counseling and a Ph.D. in Counseling Education and Supervision. I also hold an M.Div. from Asbury Seminary in Kentucky and have spent many years counseling people of all faiths on how to integrate their religion and spirituality into their mental health issues.
I am the author of several books, including Reclaiming Authenticity: A Psychospiritual Approach to Transformation and Transcendence and When Ancestors Weep: Healing the Soul from Intergenerational Trauma. “Discover the courage to reclaim that which has always been in you.”
