Helping clients facing grief or chronic illness is my passion. For nearly a decade, I was a hospice grief counselor providing support to individuals and families. I work with clients experiencing many kinds of losses, including death of a parent, partner, or child. The focus of my work with clients is finding meaning while coping with a life changing illness, including cancer and autoimmune disorders, or loss. I am certified in Thanatology, the study of death, dying and bereavement, through the Association of Death Education and Counseling (ADEC).
I have a compassionate, direct, and nonjudgmental approach to therapy. I believe in a collaborative approach, and when appropriate, I incorporate meditation, expressive arts, and mindfulness in my work with clients.
My own personal losses and living with a chronic illness strongly inform my work. I find deep meaning in my work with clients, and can be fully present with those experiencing the pain of grief. I do not believe ‘everything happens for a reason’, but I know hope and healing can be found even after life’s most devastating losses.
