Are you someone who is skeptical about therapy? Does the idea of talking to a stranger about your issues cause you to feel uneasy, maybe even angry? Are you struggling with addiction or addictive behaviors to self-medicate negative emotions? Do you feel like you don't know how or where to start? I specialize in working with 1st Responders, people who are dealing with anger, addictions, interpersonal issues and work/life balance to set healthier boundaries and lead more fulfilling lives while managing stress and burnout.
I have worked in various settings including inpatient substance abuse treatment, partial hospital psychiatric program and with forensic male substance abuse populations in the prison setting. I offer a straight-forward and very direct approach to counseling. I use a lot of humor and insight, I find being "real" to be the best way to get desired outcomes.
I think of myself as a swim instructor, not a lifeguard. This means that while working together, you will learn coping strategies and new ways of challenging negative thought patterns to improve the areas of your life you want to address. I like to meet clients where they are at; YOU are the expert in yourself. I am merely here to help guide your journey.
