About
My approach to psychotherapy is focused on increasing self-understanding and changing longstanding patterns in thinking, feeling or relating to others that are no longer working. I view psychotherapy as an open-ended, collaborative relationship aimed at helping individuals look inward to find new solutions, develop healthier patterns and achieve emotional balance. My treatment philosophy is based in the Bio-psycho-social Model, in which a person's problems are understood in the context of their unique biological, psychological, social and environmental influences, and therapeutic approaches and interventions are chosen accordingly.
I do not believe in one-size-fits-alI approaches, so I strive to maximize treatment success by continually incorporating advances in psychological research and technique. My therapeutic style works best with individuals who are motivated to make changes in their lives or relationships, and value self-understanding and an active problem-solving approach.
Whether you are seeking short-term help for a specific problem or symptom, or long-term treatment to address the causes, meanings, and broader consequences of your difficulties, my flexible treatment approach will be individualized to meet your unique needs and goals. And if outside resources are needed, I will facilitate the coordination of those services.
