My approach to therapy is based on the fundamental belief that, even in the most difficult times, there are opportunities for growth. As a humanistic-constructivist therapist, I believe the strength of the therapy relationship is fundamental to the success of therapy. Thus, I attend closely to the quality of the relationship and aim to create a warm, respectful, and validating environment in which the person feels safe enough to talk about difficult and painful issues. At the same time, through gentle challenge, and empathic, genuine feedback, I offer clients the opportunity to explore avenues for healing and change.
I am an AASECT certified sex therapist. In this capacity, I help individuals and couples with various sexual concerns including: problems with sexual functioning, painful sex, gender identity or sexual orientation concerns, low desire, desire discrepancy in couples, sexual difficulties related to aging/physical health changes, and sexual trauma.
My broad base of training and experience over the last 25 years allows me to assist adults struggling with a wide range of issues including, anxiety, depression, trauma/PTSD, sexual dysfunction, and relationship issues. I have also have specific expertise in working with college students, medical professionals, veterans, and the elderly.
