The life path of an adopted person is unlike any other. Specialized support is often essential for navigating the unique impacts and meanings that relinquishment and adoption hold for adoptees and those connected to them, past and present. As an adoption-competent therapist, I understand the complex hurts and challenges of adoptees and their families, and provide tools and support needed for honest conversations, healing from loss, and forming close, attuned relationships. Adoptive parents who seek support early can reduce the need for more complex interventions later on. As you integrate the truth of your story, you can heal.
All clients are welcome. I use Internal Family Systems (parts work), Parent-Child Psychotherapy, and ACT. Expressive therapies like play therapy, art, and sand tray are great for kids, teens, and even adults. For trauma work, I use Accelerated Resolution Therapy, which is similar to EMDR. I'm NTI adoption-competent trained. I also offer therapy in ASL.
Life can be filled with love, joy, connection, and strength—and can also be frustrating, complex, and confusing. We’ll begin from a place that allows for all of this to be true. While I specialize in healing in adoption, I work with a range of adults, couples, and families seeking trauma-informed, attachment focused therapy. I’d be honored to work with you.
