Do you want to cultivate a collaborative partnership for self-directed healing? I am a cisgender, white, Jewish woman living in Brooklyn, and I have experienced firsthand the opportunity therapy provides to connect and feel deeply understood. I help you bring an awareness of and curiosity about the impacts of systems, historical trauma, and early formative experiences that shape you. Bringing compassion and insight to the belief systems that keep you feeling stuck can facilitate new ways of relating to yourself.

I’m a NYC based psychotherapist, with over 15 years of experience. My goal is to foster a caring and attuned relationship that creates a sense of safety with clients. I help people through life transitions and challenges, which can often overwhelm and disconnect us from ourselves and those around us. I work with people who are experiencing grief, depression, anxiety and relationship issues. I also assist parents in navigating the challenges of parent- child relationships, and improving communication.

It can be painful to move through life when it feels like we're just getting by. Maybe we yearn for more in our relationships, but find ourselves repeating the same unhealthy patterns. Or we desire deeper and more meaningful connections with ourselves and others, but relational wounds or the residue of past trauma can make that feel out of reach. We want to live with more ease, but feel stuck. Whatever it is, you’re seeking out help because the cost has been high.

Having hard conversations and dealing with distressing feelings does not have to be the end of your relationship. By understanding the very things that threaten our relationships, like infidelity, repetitive fights, betrayal, and not feeling seen, we can build stronger connections. Let's stop bottling it all up and actually use it to create the relationships you want. Together we can find new ways to connect, feel heard and work through the challenges keeping you stuck, in order to feel like that very important person in your life gets you.

I am Licensed in New York, Oregon, and Washington. I have been trained in many approaches to therapy and I believe that it is my role to work collaboratively with my clients to find the approach that works best for them. I believe that healing takes place in the context of the relationship between therapist and client and that an important part of the work is developing a connection where one feels truly seen and heard. I also believe in helping my clients get in touch with deeper levels of awareness of their bodies/emotions and helping them to incorporate mindfulness practices into their lives.

My focus as a therapist is helping you understand and embrace your own identity and your own values. There is powerful strength in being yourself, and we can discover that strength together. My expertise is particularly in working with body image and eating disorders, with people who have or wish to be evaluated for autism and/or ADHD, with people experiencing self-injury or suicidal ideation, and with people who have "treatment-resistant" or severe anxiety and depression. I partner with patients who want to understand themselves on a deep level, while simultaneously offering concrete skills and tools to alleviate current symptoms.

I see therapy as a partnership where we co-create a space that fosters healing, exploration, and growth. In this space, we will work together to help you gain a better understanding of your relationship to yourself and to others. My approach will be tailored to your specific needs through various modalities. These may include considering how early life experiences have shaped who you are today, understanding how to bring awareness and attention to various emotional experiences, or learning how to examine and hold the many different parts of ourselves that make us who we are.

Few things are harder than struggling alone. You might be holding onto pain from your family, friends, or past relationships. Or it could feel like you're stuck inside a traumatic event that chains your life. It might feel like no one understands how deeply sad, intensely angry, or desperately helpless you feel. But you're not alone. Healing from trauma is not just a concept; it is an attainable reality. It would be an honor to be invited on your journey towards healing, reparation and building a life worth living. I believe the goal of therapy is not just to stop the suffering, but to create a sustained life of thriving and joy.

I believe that we all struggle, at times, to cope with difficult feelings. You know, the ones that have been with us all our lives? The ones that make us feel stuck and hopeless at times? I also believe that we can make some sense out of our feelings by examining past relationships. With this awareness we can begin to look at your current feelings and relationships. In a non-judgmental environment, come as you are. We will approach this together.

“Close relationships, more than money or fame, are what keep people happy throughout their lives”. This is according to the Harvard Study of Adult Development, the longest study ever done on adult life. When insecurity, anxiety, and disappointment leave us feeling small, disconnected, and alone, our capacity for joy drops and our physical and mental health declines. My clients move to a position of empowerment where unhelpful reactive patterns are addressed and intentionality and security are cultivated. I am passionate in helping my clients live the authentic, abundant, and successful lives they deserve.

Hello! I help individuals from all walks of life with a variety of concerns. I help individuals suffering from anxiety, depression, trauma, addiction and alcohol concerns, grief and loss, relationship issues, obsessive compulsive disorder, autism spectrum disorder, and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. Their goals might be practical, or more theoretical, and I often incorporate elements from my background in philosophy and music studies to help understand how concepts can help with healing. My clients want to find inner peace, and we explore different modalities to get there together.

Do you struggle to know what you want? Is it hard to commit? In a time of so much uncertainty, it can be difficult to make decisions.  Maybe you feel blocked professionally or creatively. Or, like a lot of us, your struggles show up in your closest relationships. Maybe you’ve dealt with the weight of other people’s expectations and find it hard to listen to yourself or trust your own voice. Or maybe you worry you’ll be misunderstood. Sometimes you wish someone would just tell you what to do, but that leaves you feeling constrained and inauthentic.

Are you living the life you want? Is your relationship a source of pain for you? Are you arguing more, trusting less, or finding yourself not looking forward to spending time together? Maybe your relationship feels stuck, like you're just replaying the same disagreement over and over again. Do you not like the person you are when you're in a relationship or wonder why you keep repeating patterns in the type of person you date? Human beings are wired for connection, yet somehow the people we are closest with also seem to cause us the most pain.

Jewish Therapists

Why is it important for a therapist to be culturally sensitive?

Therapists and clients don’t need to share the same background to be able to work together, but a therapist whose training includes a focus on cultural competence may be better able to form a therapeutic bond with individuals from a range of backgrounds, as they will have experience tailoring their approach to each client—and will be prepared to acknowledge and consider the effects of cultural forces, such as discrimination, that may contribute to that client’s concerns. With a professional who has such training, a client should feel comfortable discussing sensitive issues without feeling that they need to self-censor.

How can I recognize an effective Jewish therapist?

As with members of any religious or ethnic group, just because two people happen to be Jewish does not guarantee that they will share the same values, knowledge, or experiences. A Jewish client seeking a therapist who shares their cultural identity, or for whom it’s important that a therapist share their religious beliefs, may want to discuss a professional’s Jewish background with them before beginning therapy. For someone who seeks justification for major life changes in their religious tradition, or in biblical writings, finding a therapist who is comfortable framing guidance in that context may be especially valuable.

Would a Jewish therapist have unique training?

No, but they should have the same training and certification as any other mental health professional, as well as experience with a range of evidence-based techniques such as cognitive-behavioral therapy or mindfulness-based therapy. A therapist with this type of experience should be able to help any client feel comfortable and safe, which is essential for a therapeutic alliance. Once this is established, a potential client may want to find out more about the therapist’s Jewish background.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience with Jewish clients?

A client can directly ask a therapist if they have extensive experience working with Jewish clients and if so, whether these individuals sought counseling for faith-related issues or marital or familial issues in which their Jewish background was a factor. A client may also wish to ask a potential therapist whether they incorporate Jewish teachings and values into their own professional work.

Who is included in Psychology Today’s directory of Jewish therapists?

The directory of Jewish therapists includes professionals who have opted to share their cultural background on their profiles. However, not all therapists choose to disclose their background, and they may not appear in search results for this reason. The directory also shows therapists who indicate that they have extensive experience working with Jewish clients and/or communities.
