My ideal client is one that is ready to get to work on the task of feeling good! Their issues, needs and even goals take a back seat to the desire to get well, be well, and stay well. It's all about feeling good.

I believe anyone brave enough to seek out therapy is motivated to make a change in how they cope, lead, experience, and take charge of all that life throws at them. As a mental health counselor, I am here to walk with and encourage you as you empower yourself to continue to live a life of meaning and purpose. I will help you identify and work with your strengths, values, and goals, no matter what baggage and background seems to weigh you down.

I enjoy working with the adolescent, teen, young adult, and adult populations. I have a passion for helping individuals struggling with depression, anxiety, self esteem, trauma, and abuse/domestic violence. It’s important to me that my clients feel heard, as well as gain an understanding of how unresolved, past events can manifest into the present.

I am both inspired by and respectful of the time, courage and commitment it takes for you to engage in a therapeutic relationship, especially via telehealth. Utilizing a strength’s-based approach, I believe helping you to set realistic and achievable goals is pivotal to a successful outcome of self-sufficiency and self-care. Working from a place of compassion, flexibility and sensitivity, I also recognize and incorporate in treatment the importance of different life factors (e.g., family, cultural and environment) that heavily influence us socially and emotionally and our abilities to cope with challenges.

I have been where you are. Suffering is a right of passage. The idea of sharing your thoughts and feelings with a stranger may seem odd at first, but when the therapeutic relationship is working, fear and pain become manageable and sometimes even fall away. Having problems can feel lonely and alienating, you deserve the opportunity to find an easier way. EXHALE…it will be ok:-) I have a relaxed approach with humor and an easy disposition. Too often, people start therapy w/out really knowing how it's supposed to help them. Too often, therapists passively listen without providing the essential skills & insights to help them get better. This can lead to a lot of time and money being spent w/out seeing much improvement. That is why my practice has a transparent and teamwork driven approach. In the 1st 1-3 sessions we go over why you started therapy and then collaborate on a treatment plan that is customized to your specific goals. Over the course of treatment we review progress and make modifications accordingly.

At Cogmotion Learning, my mission is to provide specialized psychoeducational assessments, comprehensive executive function training/coaching, Independent Educational Evaluations (IEEs), and gifted identification testing. By conducting personal interviews and assessments, I equip students with essential skills for academic success and overall well-being, including improving attention, time management, resilience, organizational skills, task initiation, and flexible coping mechanisms. I am available to support parents and students by developing individualized learning plans. in addition to communicating with educators.

Having received training in both Clinical and Forensic psychology, I deliver targeted Behavioral, Cognitive Behavioral (CBT), and Dialectical Behavioral (DBT) Therapies to diverse client populations, tailored to the specific needs of each individual. I specialize in treating adolescents and adults with Personality Disorders (Borderline, Narcissistic, Antisocial), Behavioral Disorders (Oppositional Defiant, Anger), Mood Disorders (Anxiety, Depression), and Sexual Dysfunction. I also treat violent and non-violent criminal offenders, sex offenders, perpetrators of domestic violence, and various other forensic populations.

Through a nurturing and interactive approach, I help individuals, families and groups shift out of these stuck places to create deep and lasting change.

Difficulty navigating relationships is normal in time of life transition and stress. Change can be uncomfortable- worsening anxiety, anger, depression and problems in relationships. Change is inevitable and can be very uncomfortable but often leads to increased health, happiness and life satisfaction.

We all face change, hardship, stress, and self-doubt. Yet we aspire for well-being, joy, and connection. As a therapist, I'll work with you to reduce your emotional stress and cultivate your own unique version of self-value. We can't control what life throws at us, but we can learn how to better cope with stress, find our voice, set boundaries, and discover comfort within the discomfort.

My practice is based less on types of presenting issues and more on some fundamental assumptions about humanity. 1) Any client I work with is doing the best they can in the moment I meet them, 2) all people respond to compassion and understanding, and all people are injured by shaming and 3) two opposing things can be true at the same time, and much of our suffering is an inability to sit with that belief. Whoever you are and whatever your reason for seeking treatment, I will meet you exactly where you are the moment you walk in my virtual door. I consider myself your partner in your journey to find and be your most authentic self.

I believe that life’s truest purpose is a journey toward wholeness - toward our center. However, it seems inevitable that at some point in everyone's life, the thread that connects us to our deepest center becomes frayed or lost. We may experience this as depression, anxiety, relationship issues, physical illness, feeling "stuck", and more. Work with me is process of exploring the possible meaning and value of these symptoms. Together we will work to find out if these painful experiences have deeper meaning.

I am a licensed Psychologist (OH, NJ, NY) with over 35 years clinical experience. I am also a licensed/admitted attorney in OH, NJ and in NY. I have a special interest in forensic child custody and parenting time/best interests of the child evaluations. I also perform forensic evaluations and treatment related to Worker's Compensation claims in Ohio.

I enjoy and specialize in treating adults navigating experiences including; women's issues, anxiety, depression, grief/loss, and supporting parents of LGBTQIA+ children. I believe fully in the collaborative nature of the therapeutic relationship. The issues and experiences unique to parents of LGBTQIA+ folks are an area of expertise and interest in my work.
