My clients are brave and intelligent; experts on their own beliefs, thoughts, feelings, and experiences. They are open to support and positive coping, as well as thoughtful feedback about different options for how they manage and handle stress. My clients recognize that their current or innate reactions may not always be the most productive ways to handle situations and they are ready to make changes. Presenting problems may include: Depression, Anxiety, Anger management, Trauma, Adjustment, ADHD, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, and Stress management.
I have over 20 years of experience working with children, teens, and adults. I have worked in group homes, social services, community mental health, and hospital settings. I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Mindfulness and Play Therapy techniques (with children). I also have extensive training in trauma therapy.
As a therapist, I am your ally. I am very strengths based and positive. However, I also will be realistic with you and point out any unhelpful thoughts or choices that keep us in the same old pattern of interactions. I really enjoy my work with children and teens. I also love to work with adult women, parents, and grandparents.
