For the past two years I worked with individuals struggling with addiction and underlying mental health issues who were brave enough to want to try something new. It was a privilege to empower them with knowledge and tools in the recovery process. For four years before that I worked in under-resourced public schools helping children and families access therapy for (usually) the first time. There I used my creativity, flexibility, and patience to meet people wherever they were at – both psychologically and literally, in their schools, communities, and homes.
Each of these experiences taught me to take a creative, person-centered approach that focuses on being strengths-based, mindful, and adaptive. I believe that the behaviors we develop come from good intentions - helping us survive, protect, or self-soothe in (maybe) the only way we know how.
But I also recognize how difficult it can be to let something go, to stand at the edge of a transition that looks upon fear, grief, and uncertainty. Here I build on my own natural inclination to be patient and gentle and guide you in the next steps in your recovery.
