The decision to begin therapy is a courageous one. You may be coming to therapy because of a variety of reasons such as emotional distress, relationship issues, challenging life transitions, or feeling alone in navigating personal struggles. I believe the most important element of effective psychotherapy is the genuine relationship between the patient and therapist. My goal as a therapist is to provide a safe and supportive space where you can feel free to express your thoughts and feelings. Our goal together will be to work toward alleviating the stress, struggle or pain you may be going through.
I will work with you to focus on the following: 1) expression of emotion; 2) exploration of attempts to avoid distressing thoughts and feelings; 3) Identification of recurring themes and patterns in your life; 4) discuss past experience across your development; 5) focus on your relationships; 6) focus on our therapeutic relationship. I also utilize EMDR
I am a licensed clinical social worker with advanced clinical training in psychodynamic psychotherapy, and end-of-life/bereavement. I am currently pursuing further advanced training at a PhD program and am EMDR trained. Having worked in both crisis work at hospitals and clinics as well as in long-term psychotherapy, my experience is extensive, and diverse.
