About
Counseling depends heavily upon the client’s understanding of self. I maintain throughout all sessions that I am not the expert, but the client is the expert. I view myself as an empathetic sounding board by which the client can know themselves better and recognize the patterns in their lives, past experiences of pain, and conflicts in the present that are effecting their life. In addition, as a person of faith, I understand how impactful personal beliefs can be on the counseling process and will gladly make space for your spiritual beliefs and faith and can integrate biblical wisdom if the client desires and chooses.
I believe and follow the idea that counseling is more than giving advice. Each client will face a different experience in counseling and can expect varied effects and outcomes.
During therapy, I seek to help the client know themselves better. Due to the sensitive nature of topics discussed, anxiety may increase and pain may be brought to the surface of the client’s life. This can affect client’s outside of the counseling office. Clients can also discover increased self-awareness, mindfulness, and a greater understanding of self.
