Imagine being able to come up with more than one reason to be grateful? Or grateful for much of anything at all, truly, rather than a laundry list of gratitudes that you think you "should" be grateful for. All those "shoulds". Reminding yourself everyday that what you're doing is not what you "should" be doing. You "shouldn't" think like this or you "shouldn't" feel like that. You begin to disapprove of yourself even, thinking that your undeserving of your own pain. You can see how these unrealistic expectations and the harsh judments you place on yourself, could lead you directly towards a place of suffering & self sabotage.
Of course you're behavior or actions become hurtful, of course you’re cracking up or breaking off entirely, of course you're constantly in your own way of what you want. And this is the space that both you & I have to hold. Hold steady, stop running. In order to do that you have to trust in another human being.
