I typically use Person Centered Therapy. Most teens HATE to be told what to do. So I don't do that. Instead, I explore their options and their view of themselves in a non-judgmental way. I reflect, and validate. Many times when I reflect- they hear it and think to themselves "I don't like the sound of that" and correct it. That's where the magic happens. Self Correction. What every parent wants.
