For many people, standard 12 step-dominated substance use treatment does not work. People may tell you that your problem is a lack of willingness, or that you are in "denial." But maybe you need someone to listen to you rather than talk at you. The fact that these programs do not work for you does not mean that you are not capable of change. It probably just means that you have not found an approach that addresses your individual needs and values.
Harm reduction is a philosophy which meets you where you are rather than imposing rigid demands. My name is Jeremy Prillwitz, and I’m a Licensed Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LAADC). I have worked as a harm reduction-based counselor for the past ten years. My expertise is evidence-based treatment, but YOU are the expert on your life.
Let's work together to learn the underlying causes of your struggles with substances, and to find solutions which address those causes. Merely treating symptoms or following someone else's recipe for recovery is unlikely to bring lasting change. If you are empowered to seek out your own truth, you will find the right answers. I can help you do that.
