I have experience working alongside BIPOC and LGBTQ+ youth and adults in office, telehealth, and community settings. The most common mental health diagnoses and concerns I’ve worked with are anxiety, depression, PTSD, survivors of child abuse/child sexual abuse, breaking generational cycles, gender identity exploration, self-esteem, grief, attachment, adoptee trauma, child sexual abuse intervention & prevention with non-offending caregivers, racial trauma, life transitions, guilt & shame, and religious trauma. I strive to guide clients with person-centered, trauma-informed, decolonized, and strengths-based lenses.
I hold 3 core beliefs as a therapist. First, clients are the experts in their lives. Second, the therapeutic relationship drives the treatment. Finally, everyone is capable of change. Our sessions may include supportive listening, exploration & conversing, creative arts mediums, storytelling, directness as appropriate, humor, and psychoeducation.
As a Korean American, Korean adoptee, I understand how imperative it is to utilize therapeutic approaches that de-center whiteness and honor clients’ cultural practices and beliefs.
