I love clients who are self-motivated and very ready to do "the work". An ideal client is looking for a therapist who will provide direction. If you'd like a clinician with a poker face who sits and says "mmhmm", I am not your gal. My sessions are very interactive, and I love providing emotional homework or food for thought between sessions.
I think it is important for potential clients to know that I am queer, Jewish, and a mother of biracial children. I like to hopefully provide a comforting space for those who identify with any of these communities, while also coming from my own place of humility-I certainly don't know it all
I love working with individuals and couples as they go through major life transitions like family planning, death, or other changes. I treat a lot of clients who are struggling to find their "new normal" after becoming parents, moving careers, or leaving relationships. Maternal mental health is my passion. I've been working in that field for 20 years.
My approach is strength-based, and a very cognitive behavioral style, helping clients connect with their own inner resources to make lasting change. In addition, I like to use a narrative therapy framework that can be key to understanding and processing traumatic events. Finally, I love to laugh with clients; humor can be a much needed point of relief!
