Building a solid, trusting, professional relationship is key, and I take great pleasure and pride in forming these connections with my clients. Whether you are dealing with a major traumatic event, or just need extra support, we can figure it out together. I like to say, "I will help give you the map, but I won't drive the car". I love empowering clients to make their own change; there is no better feeling on either side.
I am most passionate about working with individuals and couples as they add children to their lives. The "normal" transition to parenthood is hard enough. Introduce fertility, surrogacy, adoption, traumatic birth, or a multitude of other issues, and it can feel insurmountable. No one should suffer if parenthood isn't necessarily how they expected it to be.
My approach is strength-based, and a very cognitive behavioral style, helping clients connect with their own inner resources to make lasting change. In addition, I like to use a narrative therapy framework that can be key to understanding and processing traumatic events. Finally, I love to laugh with clients; humor can be a much needed point of relief!
