I want to commend you for being brave and taking an important step towards living a healthier life. There's some good news and some bad news. The bad news is that suffering is not always avoidable, as you probably already know. The good news is that we can find healing and learn to suffer well. People walk through life with unhealthy behaviors, emotional injuries, unproductive beliefs, and other burdens that they shouldn’t have to carry and don’t really need to carry. Using evidence based practices, like EMDR and DBT, I help people heal trauma, find relief from past wounds, have a more fulfilling present, and a more hopeful future.
Integrating cognitive, emotional, and nervous system based techniques, I provide practical tools to mange symptoms and help do the work needed to bring healing. With couples, I use the Gottman method and focus not only on developing healthy communication but also on creating greater intimacy and the emotional connection needed for relationships to thrive.
Whether as an individual or couple, we will work to clarify your values and develop the skills to act on those values rather than on unwanted thoughts or emotions. I want to help you find hope again and find relief from exhaustion, fear, or despair. If you wish to connect with your body, heart, and soul to truly thrive, give me a call.

Counseling is a collaborative process and begins with building trust. We then identify the source of issues addressing them at the root rather than focusing only on symptoms. Counseling, however, is not just about solving problems. It is also about increasing your sense of fulfillment, your virtue, and your insight. Healing only comes when we can run towards a goal rather than away from a problem.

To provide the best possible treatment for patients, I strive to use evidence-based methods, keep up to date on the research, and participate in the scientific process as a researcher. Counseling is a pragmatic discipline. "Does it work" is the most important question mental health professionals ask about their approaches, and that is the question that guides my work with patients.
