My practice focuses on individuals and couples, ranging in age from 18 to elderly. I strive to create a safe environment in which to explore life stressors, patterns of relating with others, and how past experiences impact the present. Areas of professional practice include anxiety/depression, chronic illness including HIV, grief/loss, relationships, sexual issues, separation/divorce, LGBTQ, family planning, career transition, and finances. I have extensive experience with addictions, and work collaboratively with clients, whether the goal is safer substance use, reducing use, or abstinence.
I hold a certificate in Sex Therapy from the University of Michigan's School of Social Work, and am a Certified Sex Therapist through AASECT. I completed training in Psychodynamic Psychotherapy from the Institute for Contemporary Psychotherapy, and am certified in Financial Social Work, focusing on emotional stressors and how individuals relate to money.
Prior to pursuing a career in psychotherapy, I earned a B.F.A. in Film, Photography and Visual Arts from Ithaca College, and worked in television and photography. My creative background has enhanced my skills as a psychotherapist, and changing careers has assisted me in helping others do the same.
