My work is psychoanalytic, which means I attend to feelings/beliefs that emerge from one's lived experience/history and that interfere with living fully, creatively, and freely in the present. I believe that psychotherapy, at its best, is a deeply transforming experience that emerges within an intimate and private space in which you are listened to, understood, and responded to with intelligence and compassion.
I've been doing psychotherapy with adolescents, adults, couples, and families since 1986. I received my PhD at Smith College, and am a core faculty member of the Institute for Clinical Social Work (Chicago). I specialize in depth-oriented psychotherapy, and I believe in a therapeutic process that is relational and collaborative.
I offer a sliding fee scale and am devoted to a process that is confidential and protected from third party interference. I generally do not work on insurance panels. I see patients more than once per week and am committed to fee arrangements that make possible a meaningful therapeutic experience.
