Welcome to Caterpillar Counseling where there is beauty in transformation. My name is Jennifer Richards, although most people call me Jenny. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a Registered Play Therapist. I am here to support children and families on their healing journey whether having experienced Trauma or other various issues that arise within families today. Developmentally children have a specific set of abilities and needs when it comes to coping with life stressors. I believe in the therapeutic power of play and the impact it can have on creating lasting change for children.
I foster healing with in families, by providing children autonomy to learn & grow. I use a combination of family therapy, individual play therapy, and parent coaching. In my playroom you will likely find art materials for expressive play, sand for Sandtray therapy, and many other toys and games for children & families to express themselves in a safe space.
I have experience in working with Trauma, Depression, Anxiety, ASD, ADHD, self-esteem, and emotional dysregulation. I believe in the language of the heart and practice from a person centered approach. I hope to walk beside your child and family as you courageously make the steps towards lasting changes.
