Lasting change happens when we come to understand the ways of being that no longer serve us and learn how to let them go. Patients who have previously experienced therapy as unhelpful or unproductive in the past have seen improvement from our work, particularly as related to trauma, anxiety, and feeling unfulfilled in life. Our work will focus on the formation of a strong therapeutic alliance, mutual agreement on goals, and an ongoing curiosity of how things came to be as they are and how they might be different.
I believe that distress can be alleviated through a detailed exploration of our minds and our histories in order to uncover what ideas about our lives and our relationships have become unhelpful. Armed with that information, we can then work toward a more compassionate and adaptive approach to our ways of being with ourselves and with others.
