My name is Dr. Jenna Mercadante. When working with individuals seeking treatment, I take a person-centered, holistic approach, focusing on the clients particular needs, preferences, and strengths and incorporating those into a practical & collaborative treatment plan. I see individuals as more than their psychiatric diagnosis, and thus, I seek to encourage personal growth & recovery (as opposed to only symptom reduction). In terms of treatment, I take a cognitive-behavioral therapeutic approach while incorporating mindfulness techniques. Mindfulness is simply intentional focusing, non-judgmentally, in the present moment.
I specialize in working with individuals with mood & anxiety disorders, such as depression, bipolar, generalized anxiety and panic disorders. Additionally, I perform comprehensive psychological evaluations for the purpose of diagnoses and treatment recommendations.
"We must be willing to encounter darkness and despair when they come up and face them, over and over again if need be, without running away or numbing ourselves in the thousands of ways we conjure up to avoid the unavoidable." Jon Kabat-Zinn
