I take a ‘client-centered’ approach to therapy and believe therapy is a partnership between the client and the therapist. I take the time to build a trusting, mutually-respectful client/therapist relationship. I provide guidance and support for clients to reach their full potential and make their own choices based on what is best for them. I strive to honor God in all that I do, which includes helping his children along life’s journey. I incorporate spiritual themes, tailored to the client’s personal belief system.
I incorporate many concepts of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), which focuses primarily on how thoughts influence feelings, which in turn, affects behaviors and responses. I consistently utilize a strengths-based approach, which emphasizes the client’s resiliency and ability to cope, using protective factors and personal strengths to overcome obstacles
I firmly believe that once a person becomes aware of their existing coping mechanisms and responses to stress that are negatively impacting quality of life, they are better able to find healthier, more balanced responses, and this paves the way for authentic change.
