I focus a great deal on helping people expand their awareness of aspects of themselves and their important relationships that they have difficulty paying attention to and feeling. This increased awareness helps people feel more flexible and free to navigate the obstacles and cross-currents they find facing them in their lives, rather than remain stuck in repetitive cycles of suffering.
In addition to my work with addictions, I have had many years of experience (both as a researcher and clinician) working with depression of all types, anxiety disorders, chronic and acute pain conditions, trauma, issues around aging, and bereavement. My practice is primarily individual.
I am an active and highly engaged therapist who tries to meet people where they are and to develop a collaborative relationship with them in which we can work together to find new ways to experience life in a fuller and richer way. I have trained in a number of therapeutic modalities, in particular IFS and Relational Psychoanalysis
