Life Pushes, and when it does, it can feel as though your world has tilted on its axis. Stress brings with it storms: emotional, physical, relational, financial, spiritual, including storms unique to caring for aging parents. When these storms come, it helps to have someone to trust with your story; someone to hold the "flashlight" figuratively speaking, in order to help you identify your life values, navigate your personal goals, and develop tools so your energy is spent living your life instead of existing. It is my desire to help you develop ways to exchange your current stress for strength.
Our therapeutic relationship is vitally important. It requires courage to reach out for help and my role is to work alongside you to identify your goals and develop a plan incorporating evidence-based treatments designed to help you define strategies for living. As a clinician and published researcher, my specialization is helping people adjust to stressors resulting from anxiety, PTSD, depression, and traumatic loss. My affiliations with UTSW (Disaster and Trauma Psychiatry), Parkland Hospital, and the Dallas VA, equipped me to successfully address the mental health needs of both Veterans and non-Veterans.
