Kids don't always use words but behavior always has a message and may also be a form of SOS. I help children and teens feel better about themselves and improve their behavior at home or at school. I also help parents and families understand and deal with the mistaken goals of misbehavior. I believe there is always a reason, feeling or unmet need. Understanding and addressing the underlying message helps build bridges with kids and teens. I provide individual, parenting or family sessions that range from educational coaching and enrichment or addressing specific concerns.
Play, art, and motivational interviewing helps children and teens connect and feel comfortable with the therapy process. They have fun while learning to feel better about themselves and improve behavior at home or at school. Parents benefit from positive parenting techniques that resolve power struggles and family conflict.
I have over 10 years experience working with children (ages 3-12,) teens and families as well as extensive training in art/sandtray/play therapy and collaborative problem-solving to help clients express thoughts and feelings as well as process and learn new skills.
