I moved to North Carolina from the Northwest in 2018 and am considered a true generalist. This means I have over 10,000 hours of experience helping children, adolescents, and adults with the myriad concerns that bring them to therapy (see the specialty list below): however, my areas of expertise are in trauma, anxiety, improving interpersonal relationship dynamics, and performance improvement. I enjoy working with health care professionals, first responders, athletes, teachers, and university professionals and students. I am not currently accepting new patients.
I completed my undergrad degree in Biology at Boise State University, earned a PhD at Washington State University, and completed my internship in psychology at Texas A&M. I have worked as a clinical faculty in several universities for over ten years and have taught multicultural counseling, psychopathology, and psychological theories/practicum.
My approach is Interpersonal and Cognitive Behavioral (ACT). This is an active therapy that focuses on the relationship between the therapist and patient to identify and strengthen relational patterns, as well as rework patterns of thinking and acting to both decrease anxiety and build tolerance for discomfort re: living a mindful and values focused life.

My treatment approach is collaborative, educational, goal focused, and measurable. With things like panic disorder and simple phobias, if you do your part and I do mine, you can expect change within two sessions after the intake. The treatment of OCD and PTSD tend to be a longer course and may involve EMDR treatment.

As a professor who taught psychopathology and psychological theories, I am familiar with most approaches to therapy; however, I follow a third wave behavioral approach (ACT), the foundations of which are interpersonal and attachment focused, within a multicultural framework.
