About
I have specialized for the past 20 years in the treatment of children, teens, and adult adoptees and foster youth, foster-adoptive parents, and first families. I work with former foster youth and adult adoptees who are struggling with grief and loss, and trauma and help them in their journey through search and reunion. I also facilitate open adoptions. I help first mothers and fathers process grief and loss and facilitate successful reunions. I developed unique psycho-therapeutic interventions that support children, and teens with serious psychological problems secondary to histories of abuse, neglect, and /or multiple placements.
I supervise 6 therapists at Yoffe Therapy training to be Adoption and Foster Care competent. I am the Executive Director of Celia Center, a non-profit community organization in Los Angeles that provides monthly support groups for all members of the foster care and adoption constellation called Adopt Salon. My desire to become a child and adult therapist with a special focus on adoption and foster care challenges derived from my own experience of being adopted at age seven and a half and moving through the foster care system. I work closely with families, social workers, and therapists in theLos Angeles County Dept. of Mental Health and Child & Family Services.
